Hello

I am suffering from involuntary movements of my body like shivering or facial grimacing. It started 7 years ago after severe attack of chicken pox. My friends tease me and I feel very embarrassed. I am told to do an MRI but am afraid of doing that. Is there anyone else here having same problem?

Hello Kapaalini: Welcome to NeuroTalk! :welcome_sign: I trust you will find the time you spend here to be of benefit. :Grin-Nod: I haven't had any problems with facial grimacing. But I have what I typically refer to as a restless leg syndrome sort of feeling throughout my body 24 / 7. I'm an older person though & I had chicken pox when I was a child many decades ago now. There is a movement disorders forum here on NT, along with forums on many other topics. You might consider posting your situation in the Movement Disorders forum:

One additional possibility might be the General Health Conditions and Rare Disorders forum:

Bests wishes... :)

Hi Kapaalini

Welcome to NeuroTalk - I hope that you find the community as knowledgeable and supportive as I have :).

Apart from the excellent suggestions that Skeezyks has made, involuntary body movements are a known side-effect of chickenpox. This case report might help you in talking about this with your health care team Myoclonus complicating chickenpox: A case report - MDS Abstracts.

All the best.
