Hello from new member

Hi Everyone,

I am diagnosed with R/R M.S., Meningioma (A benign brain tumor that is pressing on my cerebellum), Peripheral Neuropathy, Diabetes 2, Peripheral Arterial Disease, EBV (Ebstein Barr Virus), Osteoarthritis, Optical Hypertension, Mixed Connective Tissue disease....and I am sure I am leaving some out.

I live in Key West, FLorida. I currently receive SSDI and Medicare. Up until Jan. 2006, I was also on full Medicaid but the state put dual eligibles (SSDI only with Medicare and Medicaid) on ridiculously high share of costs. I have been fighting with them for over a year and I just came across a little known.....well, let me change that to an unknown.....federal amendment called the Pickle Amendment....which protest individuals that lose their SSI because of SSDI COLAS. If anyone needs/wants info about that, let me know but so far, I've got them to agree that I am eligible under it....after they all had to scramble to find out what it is!

I really need my Medicaid back because I need my eye care and transportation to Miami as there are no specialist's in all of the Florida Keys.

I look forward to meeting you.

Hi, Capp, welcome to NeuroTalk!

Wow, that sure is a mixed bag and I'm sorry you're facing so many issues.

We also have a good group in the MS forum, so be sure to stop by and say "hey" to us there.

Let us know if we can assist you with anything.:)

Hi Alffe,

Thanks for the welcome. I will definitely go to the SSDI forum and post info about the Pickle Amendment. I see you are involved in a suicide hotline. I used to work for a crisis, information and referral phone line also.

Hi Margie and welcome to NeuroTalk. The people here are wonderful.

I had to smile after you listed your physical limitations and said that you probably left something out. That's how I feel when people want me to list surgeries I've had. I'm sure I ALWAYS leave out 1 or 2 surgeries.

I'm glad you stopped by. I am amazed every time I come in to welcome somebody. I learn something new nearly every day. And your post is very timely. I know a member, who rarely posts here anymore, who I believe is in the same situation as you in Florida. She may want to know about this, so thanks much!

Again, welcome.

Hi Doody,

Thanks for the welcome. Like you, I even have a hard time remembering all the surgeries. And forget medications, I take about 15 different prescriptions each day,

I will be happy to talk to your friend. Also, I went over to the SSDI forum and posted more info about it.

Take Care,
Margie

Hi Capp, Welcome:) I am in great health except for a handful of problems. But it sounds like you have a bigger handful. Hang tough!

Yeh, you got it right you have to do the research and fight these people:cool: They don't like it and usually win only when they scare us off.

Thanks Alffe,

I will save it and check it out tomorrow. Feeling yucky, got another MS or EBV....or both....infection and feel like I have the flu.

Margie
