Reconsideration

I filed a SSD claim on 11-10-2016 for COPD and was denied on 7-13-2017 . I have hired a lawyer and filed for Reconsideration . The reason for the denial was " Your condition results in some limitations in your ability to perform work related actives , however these limitations do not prevent you from performing work you have done in the past"

My question is since they made the decision/denial at step 4 on the grid rules on first claim, will they go on to step 5 of the grid for Reconsideration ?

I was ( and still am ) 55 years old when I filed the claim.

Thanks .

I don't know about the grid rules, but it sounds like they are thinking you may be able to do some type of work at this time.

A main point for SSDI is not what your condition or diagnosis is, it is are you able to work at some sort of gainful employment similar or different type of work.
How COPD affects you day to day..is the important part ..more paperwork or drs records/notes may help..

There are useful sticky threads the main SSDI page, very helpful information-
