New member with a recent concussion

Hi all. I had a fall last week and was wondering if anyone had similar symptoms that I am currently having Went to step down from step ladder and wasn't as close to ground as I thought and feel backwards probably my from at least 3 feet high. Struck the left back and center of my head near top. There was some light bleeding and according to the dr who looked at me it was like an abrasion. It was not until at least a day or two later that I noticed my ears were feeling clogged or like I had water in them. I also suddenly got sore (or noticed) soreness to to right side of my head lengthwise above my ear. Also I have a strange noise almost like a crackling of plastic to that ear and the area above it if I put any pressure on it such as laying on it to then over in bed or even pressure to my neck on that side.

My CT was negative from ER the night this happened. And now a week later my ENT Doc has found some blood behind my ear drums I also lost my sense of smell and taste All the ENT said was a steroid if this didn't clear up soon. I'm concerned that I may have some kind of bleed not diagnosed since this blood appeared and wasn't found in er that night I am having Terrible pounding headaches and cannot bend over to do anything. anyone else have any of these things happen and will the loss of my senses come back ? I had a neck surgery the end of march so a fall was very bad for me anyway. My second ACDF with hardware from ruptured disc. My neck pain and spasm has also returned with a vengeance which is really scaring me. Thanks all

Hi milren

Welcome to NeuroTalk :).

I don't know enough about what you have said to say anything constructive.

However, the TBI/PCS forum (https://www.neurotalk.org/forum92/) is very active. If you describe your experiences there I am sure that other members will be able to offer helpful thoughts and suggestions.

All the best.

Hi milren,

I'm sorry to hear about your fall. I had a concussion a few yrs. ago and had a terrible headache. In regards to the sounds you are hearing you may want to ask your Dr. to do a MRI with the fluids they use, the MRI shows much more detail sometimes. Also I found taking vitamin B12 once a day helped me a lot. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue
