Progression

I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy last March.
My symptoms have been about the same for the past 18 months.
I'm curious to know if this always progresses.
I have not found a definite cause although prediabetes may be it.
I have worked hard at keeping my blood sugar in good control.
Thanks

Goosiegoo: I'm surprised that this post has gone a month with no replies. No, SFN does not always progress - although unfortunately it quite often does.

From what I have seen/heard from tracking this forum and other sites for a few years, it seems like if it comes on slowly and progressively it is more likely to continue progressing. If it comes on suddenly, then it seems more likely that it may stop progressing and maybe even improve somewhat.

In my case, things came on fairly quickly over a 6 month period. Since then, it hasn't really progressed and there seems to be some improvement (or maybe I have just gotten used to the level of pain and have developed the ability to ignore it to some extent)

Bottom line is that I have had no significant progression in three years, and I keep on praying every day that it stays that way. I still can do most of the things I did before, although there's always that nagging hint of pain in the feet, and occasional flares in other spots.
