Post concussion Questions
Hi there New to the forum I have some questions regarding PCS . I have played Ice hockey since the ages of 10- 24 and have had 6 diagnosed concussions and some small impact hits to the head as well during my career. March 2016 was my last game I slipped and hit my head into boards I had PCS ever since. My symptoms were memory loss , depression , brain fog etc. Fast forward to now I'm getting better but but I've noticed I still have problems with speech I sometimes mix up words and slurr occasionaly is this normal with PCS ? It seems to come and go and gets worse when I'm tired. I work long days and get sometimes only 5-6 hours sleep? Besides that my other symptoms have diminished significantly. I am also just starting HBOT and looking into NAD therapy and possibly doing stem cells. Any info helps thanks jack

Hi Jack
Welcome to NeuroTalk :). I suggest that you share your story in the TBI/PCS forum (https://www.neurotalk.org/forum92/). There are many members who contribute there who know a lot about TBI and PCS - they will be able to offer you support and helpful suggestions. Best wishes. |
Hi Jack,
When I had PCS it took me at least a yr. to get my memory back and it still isn't as good as it used to be. My neurologist told me to do word search puzzles and a lot of math to better my memory. In regards to your speech if you have a neurologist you may want to ask that a wada test be done by doing this test they can see what side of the brain a person is using for their speech and short term memory. Speech is usually on the left side of the brain but in some cases (like mine) it was split so I use both sides of the brain. I had no idea I was like this until I had the test done. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You! Sue |
