So confused.. Gluten proteins?!?

Hi Everyone. I've just joined and I'm looking for some help/knowledge. I recently had a skin prick test trying to establish why my mouth/tongue swell up randomly. As I was there they tested for all sorts of allergies. I had a reaction to two gluten proteins I think she said but not the main gluten protein. As it was deemed not relevant to my swelling problem that result was passed aside. I wish I had taken more notice as to what they were but I do know something to do with gluten. In my mind I think a flower too but maybe I'm confused. I've booked a Dr's appointment to ask but it's in four weeks. Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts? Thank you so much in advance. X

Hi Battynatty

Welcome to NeuroTalk :).

Often a reaction to gluten proteins indicates coeliac disease, which is an auto-immune condition; its signs are usually confined to the gut.

Can you get your doctors to refer you to a clinical immunologist?

Specialist advice and possibly further testing from a clinical immunologist could be helpful for you.

Best wishes.

Thankyou. I'll ask my Dr at my appointment. I was just hoping to gain knowledge beforehand so I at least sound like I know what I'm talking about!
