Has my SCS failed?

Hi All just joined asnd been looking for ages for somewhere like this. I had my trial for Nevro Senza 2 yrs ago and experienced a minor miracle and finally in April this year had full implant. I had a spinal fusion 8 yrs ago to corrert Scoliosis which it mainly did but still left me with terrible hip back and leg pain due to trapped nerves. I am told it will probably require further surgery but in the meantime my SCS has been great until one day whilst bathing the dog I stepped back to avoid his shaking and bashed my battery pack into the sink. This caused me a huge bruise and much discomfort. Since then I have tried every program that gave me pain scores of 1 and 0 (yes it was that good) to no avail. I sit here miserable at what I now have and even though I am still charging up wonder if I might have dislodged wires I can also feel the wire along my spine more than I previously could. I am living on prescription strength cocodamol and am booked to go back to neuromodulation team on Friday. If I have dislodged wired does this mean I have to go through the procedure again? So anxious about this.

Poppet,
Might be a good idea to get in touch with a rep from the company. The SCS may just need a reprograming; at least it's worth a try.

Hi Poplet, mine is a Nevro Senza, I've had some good years with it since implant (Dec 2013) revision & 2nd lead implant (September 2014). In the main I've had good reduction in pain overall that I can directly attribute to my Nevro unit. But, and I empasise the but, I have some really challenging times with it as well. My best advice to you would be to contact your rep, unlike many of the St Jude, Medtronic & Boston, the Nevro reps are pretty stable. They certainly shared their information with one another world wide and can tap in on their laptops to sites where they can share each other's what went well, not well, what to do, how to react etc. if you have not as yet contacted your rep, please do so and don't give up, do not be fobbed off. A squeaky wheel gets more attention than a smooth running slightly going flat tyre. In your initial pack you will have been given a card to carry at all times and you should have the mobile contact number of your rep who is avail Monday to a Friday with an escalation number direct to the US if you are having little joy.

Dont delay, call that number, if you had good positive relief it can be regained. I've had falls after falls, many on here can attribute to that, I've had many a time where I've thought the jolly thing not working only to realise yes it is working it's just my pain has worked a new, sneaky way of getting round the message block. Your rep can run the appropriate tests to A. see if it's working, B. See if the lead has moved (I'm lead to believe it's not as common as we all seem to think, but it does happen) C. Tweak the program again to suit your needs. There is hope, you just need to become persistent and then some with your Nevro rep. Once the unit is installed, your PM will not have as much to do with you, he or she hands it all over to the rep and they really are good at what they do, but you have to find one you like, if you don't bond with the one you have, ask for another. Don't put up with someone you have little faith in.
