Intro -
Good morning,
I have been diagnosed with PCS. Currently I'm seeing a concussion specialist MD, a neurologist, physical therapy 2 hours twice weekly; vestibular therapy twice weekly; speech/language therapy twice weekly. (also seeing an orthopedic doctor but I think P/T is taking care of the knee and hip so hopefully no surgery needed) I've had a headache ever since the car wreck - several months. I have a steady pain that never goes away - though since I've started the various therapies the steady pain does lessen in intensity - where it used to never go below a 5, now I've been down to a 3 a couple of times for a few moments. It has times of varying intensity with spikes of pain that I call an electrical storm as the spikes of pain hit in one spot and then will quickly move to another spot - often moving around in a matter of seconds. I have a host of other symptoms - too numerous to list but I'm hoping all the therapies assist in either eliminating them or at least toning them down. |
BlueSkye,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. You don't say what the PT is doing for your concussion. You also don't say how long ago your injury was. PCS would be the wrong term unless your concussion was months ago. If not, you are just dealing with concussion symptoms with a high chance of a good recovery. Has the PT worked with your neck? Neck therapy should be very gentle. |
I was diagnosed with PCS by several MD's - 2 are neurologists.
The P/T is very gentle in all aspects and one hour twice weekly is dedicated to my neck & head. I'm staying positive that I'm on the path to healing - one step at a time. I joined to read and learn. Thank you for your welcome. |
Blue Skye,
