I have a european keyboard
My old laptop died a few months ago. I got a used one (better than my old one) didn't cost me a lot of money and it's big and works fine except for the keyboard letters c and v. I found out this is a european keyboard.
I can figure out most of the stuff but when I hit the c (which has this strange symbol under it(same with the letter v} I have to be constantly hitting it to have a c or a v appear. And the keyboard is set to English, that much I know. Until I see the computer guy, is there anything I can do? Thanks much Melody |
Best guess is some crud or something under those keys..
you can tip/tilt, upside down tapping with your hand to try to loosen it so it falls out or blow with hair dyer with cool setting- see if that works.. If no crud falls out then those 2 keys could just be broken underneath.. but since close together.. I think a spill or crumbs.. I have in the past had to rinse coffee/pop from my keyboards...warm water & let dry completely.. (disclaimer) *only a suggestion of what I do, there is some risk depending on your keyboard..may or may not work for you... I did have a spare kb to use until it was fully dry.. you can also search for ways to clean your keyboards...for other ideas.. |
Thanks much. I really don't care for this keyboard. Too many unknown symbols, etc. I have read that I can hook up an external keyboard. I can get one for ten bucks.
I have two extra usb ports on this laptop. All I have to do is get the keyboard, plug it into the usb and it will recognize it and that's it? Hard to believe it could be that simple. Melody |
