sigh new member new aneurysm

I was recently diagnosed with a 5-6mm cerebral wide neck (lucky me) aneurysm located in the anterior communicating artery. I've had consultations with 2 neurosurgeons (institutions). One said I needed surgery ASAP, the other Stanford, recommended that, given the risks and data and my age, that they monitor it and not rush into surgery. I'm going with Stanford.

Anyway, since being diagnosed, I'm finding I'm having problems figuring out certain aspects of my life. For instance, I travel to areas that are a bit remote and don't know if this is an issue. That's just one of many questions...

Hi Marilynk1,

I've had family that's had aneurysms and they had the surgery done a.s.a.p.
Personally if I was in your place I would have a few tests done like an MRI and Cat scan to see the details of the aneurysms and then if there were no risks I would have the surgery done. My Grandfather was in his 80's when he had his surgery. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue
