Doing a little better
Hi guys,
Sorry it took me so long to get back on, but I still wasn't doing to well. The doc put me back on cymbalta 60 mgs. and I am doing better with that. I went and seen the doc on Monday and this is what is going on now. He put me on skelaxin 800mgs temporarily to see if it will help with my spasms. So I am now on cymbalta 60mgs,skelaxin 800mgs, and trazedone 50 mgs. I also turned my stimulator back on Sunday night and had to turn it down from 1.10 to .90. it aint doing crap for my pain, it might be helping 30%, but that is about it. I guess 30% is better than nothing. I am hoping in time that I will be able to turn it back up, but as for now I can't because the spasms are real bad. I am having so much pain not only in my arm but in my shoulder real bad. The doc thinks the reason my shoulder hurts so bad is because of the spasms and that is making my muscles in my shoulder real sore. He is also reccomending I see a psychologist/psychiatrist. I have to call them today and find out when the first appointment is. I am kind of excited about this, but still a little leary. I just hope that I can get the pain under control soon. Somedays I just think it would be easier to just rip my arm off and be done with it, but I know that won't make me feel any better just worse. Well you all have a great day and thanks for being there for me when I need someone. Tracy:Writting: |
Hi Tracy,
Sorry that you are having such a hard time. Hopefully things will start calming down soon.
I wanted to say, I have been in councelling for 8 years and it's the best thing I have ever done. They try to help you learn how to deal with the cronic pain with things like meditation and prayer and other things. My right arm is the worst for me also. I've said many times I wanted my arm cut off. My Methadone helps a lot but when the weather changes or I do something wrong to get the RSD flared I'm in the same mess again. I sure hope you start seeing some relief with the SCS. Ada |
Hi Tracy
Glad you are feeling a little better:) Sometime just a little relief will help us get our mind in a better place. And going to a psychologist certainly helped me, if you can find one that deals mostly with pain disorders that is a big plus!!
Also, for your muscle spasms gently movement such as yoga sometimes helps. And a warm soak in epsom salts with some essential oil and relaxing music helps me. Believe me I know what you mean when you say you would like to rip your arm off at times. When my hand hurt so bad I would tell my husband that I would bite it off if I were an animal. Poor animals, they don't even get pain meds. Sorry, my mind tends to wonder when I haven't had a lot of sleep. But I did want you to know we were wishing better days for you and we will continue to pray for a lot more relief for you real soon. Carose |
Hey Tracy,
I do know how you feel! I feel similarly... there are times when chopping bits off are tempting! anyhow.. psychologists that specialise in pain are also very good for helping you learn to live with pain - for instance working on methods for sleep, achieving things etc. I found them interesting... Fingers crossed for you and glad you are doing abit better love ya froggsy xxxxxxxx |
Glad your meds and the scs are helping. i've been there where i want to cut off my leg too .... but remember the nerves will not know the leg is cut off and your body will still feel pain! it is phantom pain, and it is why amputation is NOT a treatment for rsd. so keep persuing other options.
