Minneapolis

I'm just watching morning news here and they're showing absolutely unbelievable live images of a freeway collapse over the Mississippi River. It's just shocking. I can't believe something like that could happen unless there'd been an earthquake or something. I could see people walking around on the part of the bridge that is actually in the water. I just want to say how sorry I am that something so awful has happened. I just hope that they can find everyone really fast.

I'm very thankful that my nephiew was not on that bridge on his way home from work.

I have a great-neice that lives in Minneapolis and haven't heard of whether she has any friends involved or not. Prayers for all the families and victims involved,

Marilyn

:( It just happened about 6 pm, not even 3 hours ago. It's just awful and now with night falling. Just awful. God bless all the people involved.

Wow, I hadn't heard about this, either. I sure hope that no one was seriously hurt! I'm saying a prayer for all of them. I guess it just goes to show how surprising a sudden disaster can be.

I didn't hear about until late news report. There were a lot going home from work at that time. My prayers are for them and their families.

My heart and prayers go out to the people effected by this tragedy. I was worried about a friend of mine, but he's okay. His son was working construction close by and got off work around that time. If he had followed his regular path home, he would have been on that bridge. I'm so glad he decided to take a different route yesterday. :)

Another friend in South Dakota is married to a trucker and was supposed to be in Minneapolis around that time. He was a good hubby - and made sure to call his wife as soon as he heard what happened to let her know he was okay. :)

I think it's strange that it was built in 1967, and they fell 67 feet into the river that bridges this country. My own recollection of 1967 was rather frightening - and also a bad year for bridge-building. :(

Makes me wonder if that bridge between East/West, Black/White, etc. will ever be strong enough to withstand the pressure. :(

Why does it take a tragedy like this to get people to HUG each other!?!! I didn't see anyone turning people away because of their religious beliefs, sexual lifestyle, color, nationality, or level of intellectual ability. I didn't see anyone saying "No thanks, I'm already saved" - or we don't need to search those cars in the river because they're different from us.

I'm sorry. This makes me angry because I can't slap whoever is responsible for this terrifying act - or pick up a gun to avenge the deaths of those people lost. It would only create more terror. :o
