Voice Related Question
DBS has been nearly miraculous in my case. The only remaining side-effect that I can identify is voice. What I think I recall is as voltage went up, the voice problems worsened. Since my job, as most do, requires the use of my voice on a frequent basis, is it possible that short speaking 'stints' could be improved, temporarily, by lowering voltage? Please let me and others with DBS know what you think-------

I'm assuming you've been given the patient programmer which has a range that allows you to go up and down with the setting. Give it a try at home first. Try it very gradually and see if going down say 0.1V improves the volume, clarity etc of your voice. For me I thought I was mumbling a bit and have lowered the settings just a little with good results then put it back to what my Neurologist had it on at my own pace. It helps to take it very slowly when altering your setting. By all means go for it. Best of luck with your outcome. |
