Heart problems
 

So after following through with the cardiologist it seems likely that CRPS is causing my fast heart rate and as well as a weak heart. I'm picking up new Rx's tomorrow.

Has anyone had success with CRPS related fast heart rates being lowered with meds or any other treatment? Is there a way to determine this is CRPS related?

So far thank God the CRPS hasn't done anything to my organs, that I'm aware of.

If the doctors say it is related, I'd trust them, also please take the meds you are being given.

My grandma had to take high blood pressure pills because she had swinging (up and down) blood pressure. She got her meds but then suddenly up and decided she didn't want to take them. She got a massive stroke that left her paralyzed on one side. :(

My blood pressure is in normal ranges, I just have a fast heart rate, but it's significant, with spikes as high as 170-180. It's not that I won't take the meds, but I'm just curious if they're likely to work in this scenario. The cardiologist thought that CRPS made sense to be the cause but he has no experience with it. I'm not sure what my CRPS doc will say, or if I might need to see a new doctor. I've been overwhelmed with doctors and tests the past 6 months.

CRPS can and does affect internal organs. I'm sorry this is happening to you. There's no reason, though, to suspect that normal treatment for heart problems wouldn't work, as far as I know. The best thing, IMO, would be for the cardiologist to consult with your CRPS doctor.

My doctors have said my fast heart rate is due to the crps/pain. The only thing that has helped me in that regard is lowering the pain levels. The worse my pain...the higher the heart rate and it's not uncommon for my resting HR to be 110+ and even just a short walk to bring it to 150+ (like...just across the room type short walk). That said...my last Dr appointment it was at 96 when they checked it which is the lowest I've seen it in a long time and I attribute that to the pain relief I've been getting in my leg from the DRG. New doctors always freak out about my HR and it's been frustrating any time I've gone to the er for anything else because most of the time they completely ignore my other complaints and focus on the heart rate. Wish I had more suggestions for you...I am very worried about the long term effects of the HR issues especially when all my relatives on my dad's side have died of heart issues when they were still pretty young.

Catra, Yes, I was shocked what little activity is causing my heart to race. Even the difference between sitting and lying down is significant. I'm not sure how I ignored this? To do the echocardiogram I had to lie down and do deep breathing exercises which dropped it to 117 from around 140.

I don't know about my heart rate, but I know that when I first was diagnosed and had no effective pain meds my bp was super high for me, 145/90 range (I'm normally 100/70 or even lower). And that was all caused by the pain. I never paid attention to the heart rate.

Heart rate hasn't been a consistent issue for me but high blood pressure surges with pain has been a more serious issue. For about 10 yrs I've taken clonadine which helps regulate my blood pressure surges. I have been more focussed on measuring the long term blood pressure because my CRPS and Cardiac specialists said for me that was what increased my stroke, heart attack risk over time and put it in the unacceptable range.

I have the same issue....My high blood pressure surges with pain; The doctor has added a medication, along with my regular blood pressure med, that affects the top # only since the bottom is almost always in line.
