And now gabapentin

Good grief. I hope this doesn't get the same scrutiny.

Health officials are sounding an alarm on the drug gabapentin. And it’s not even an opioid.

ummm, I have never taken gabapentin but do work with Gaba and it works in my body.

Is There Any Difference Between GABA and Gabapentin? | gammaaminobutyricacid.org

I have a friend who took gabapentin for many years and dealt with all the side effects and she's off it now and finding relief with grape seed extract for the 30 yrs of neuropathy she lives with.

Ridiculous. For most people, Gabapentin does little more than make them sleepy. I've heard of people taking Gabapentin to try to get high, but I think any high they get is nothing but a placebo effect. It can be difficult to get off of though, with some unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.

Lets work on getting the really bad stuff off the streets. Why wast law enforcement's time by trying to control something that is at most a secondary modifier to the drug abuse problem in our society. Go after the root of the problem.....

I'm weaning off Gabapentin now and I can't wait to be done with it. The only thing I'm sure of is it makes me sleepy. My dose was 600mg in the evening so I took it around 7pm. If I wanted to go out by 9pm I looked & acted like a drunk. My words would slur and I couldn't walk straight. I'm just down to 400mg and can't wait to get off.

I know for some it works and I can't imagine that it will be banned. Unfortunately it's overprescribed for just about everything. Thats how they got in this mess.

Wow. thanks for this. I rarely use it, but perhaps i should think about acquiring more refills and stock piling them... Annoying.

I took This drug for years in various doses up to maximum, no big side effects and actually do not think it worked that well. I have not found anything that helps with the pain, some relief in my mind with pain meds! Had since 1988!

I agree it's overprescribed! Gabapentin was offered up immediately by every doctor I saw--my primary, a podiatrist, a rheumatologist, and two neurologists. Why would they suggest this for pain that is localized and episodic. Not one of them thought to suggest anything topical, which I ended up requesting due to what I learned on this forum!

I mentioned above how a friend is getting reduced pain from decades and she took gabapentin for years too with all the side effects...she's getting some good relief with grape seed extract now taking it over 5 yrs or so...

Too too bad the allopathic world won't/can't work with the holistic healing world of supplements etc. My only MD is an integrative MD and she offers the drugs LAST and my nerve issues all came on after hip replacement and nerve damage from it.

Plus I so depend on the great information on the net and the forums I've been on for years.

● I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I do not believe that is the case for everyone. I have been on 3600 mg of Gabapentin daily for the last year or so. I do not get sleepy or disoriented in any way. It is the only thing that has ever helped me with my neuropathic pain. Some people I believe have been diagnosed with neuropathic pain when in actuality it was something else. That is why I believe it did not work for them.
