Long-term use of bi polar meds v clarity

Hi, I'm new here looking for some perspective on stopping my Bi-Polar medications, under doctors care of course. Diagnosed BP & GAD at 22, dysthymia, Depression and GAD prior.

It's been 28 years since my first anti-depressant. I was 14. Since I have been through a gamut of 27 medications from multiple families. I want a to see what I'm like without swallowing 15 pills a day and to find out what irreparable damage has been to my brain. Additionally I am hoping that the physical side-effects aren't long-term though I'm afraid that's impossible.

I thought I was pretty informed of how these drugs work but after doing the research I was sorely lacking. It's more than the Bi-Polar characteristic of arbitrarily stopping medication...I'm afraid of the damage done.

From the ages of 14-26 I was an alcoholic, through-out I have also smoked massive amounts of marijuana (I still do just not massive) and taken LSD 2-3 times weekly for 2 years as a teen.

My history is too long to write out. Please ask me any questions.

Thank You
