2nd opinion?

I was "suggested" from my neuro after seeing the VEEG getting a 2nd opinion. Since I have never had to go this route before what do I expect @ this appointment? What would be the questions to ask?

Thanks!!

Flopper,
We just recently decided to get a "second opinion" from another neurologist for my 4 yr old son who has epilepsy. After the initial visit with her (the new neurologist) we dicided to continue see her and stop seeing the original neurologist. We were the ones who wanted the second opinion...and we are glad we did. We didn't want to base our son's well being on one doctor's opinions.

As far as how the actual visit went, it went well. We had a copy of my son's records from the previous doctor's office transfered to to new doctor's office. During the visit, she (the new neurologist) talked to us about our son's history and she did a typical office room evaluation on him.....and I am sure that she had already reviewed his records.

I will be happy to share anything I possible can with you. If you have anymore specific questions, just ask.

Hi flopper,
I've gotten a 2nd opinion but instead of seeing a neuro I went to see an epi at an Epilepsy Center and take my word I got a lot more help and the epi was way ahead of any neuro I saw over the yrs.
As Trent mentioned just make sure that all your medical records are transfered before you see the Dr. and then just ask your new Dr. any questions about the cause of your sz., and the best way to treat them without loading you up on a lot of AED's. Over the yrs. I've seen a pattern where many Drs. like to give me extra perscriptions for my sz. which only make my sz. worse. I've found the fewer AED's I take the fewer sz. I have. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Thank you both.

For now I am just looking for an opinion. He is merely just a neuro, but he did a fellowship @ the hospital I had my second surgery & knows my surgeon. My current neuro had mentioned before the VEEG about shipping me for a specta. After seeing the VEEG result he then said "you might wanta second opinion" & mentioned sending me back to the 2nd surgeon since the results showed the activity was shown on all of the side I had the surgery. He said another surgery may not do the trick. He know's I'm not high on another. It sounds to me that he is trying to bail out & hopes I will can him, or he simply has no idea what to do. Most Dr's would suggest who would be a good Dr. to get the opinion from. Plus, most Dr's can pull another Dr. in if they wanta see what they think & where to go from here.
I have a copy of the entire 5 day hospital stay during the 3 day VEEG & the final results. Copies of the past few hospital trips, the second surgery & past Ct scans.
Probably wise to get a copy of the past years visits to the current neuro huh? I may not agree w/ this opinion Dr's opinion, so I don't wanta transfer everything & would prefer to carry those copies in just in case.

I have an app't w/ the 2nd opinion in less than 2 wks & an app't for my current neuro next month.
