Post-concussive again

A couple weeks ago I made a turn and hit the side of my head on the frame of the ceiling wall of my stairs. i've gotten concussions before and hit my head since, but my headaches were gone for a while and now they have returned and havent stopped since. Is this normal or serious? I don't want these to be forever.

Your headaches will last as long as they last. Headache meds are commonly used. Aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, etc. I have had headaches that were chronic for 6 to 9 months.

Of course nobody wants headaches to last forever. Focusing on such ideas are counter to reducing stress.

Ah damn thats a long time, I was just starting to enjoy summer too. Guess I could tough it out and have them for that long.

Take some headache meds. Are you going to curse the dark or light a candle?

I understand what you are saying, I just though this chapter of my life was over. taking headache pills everyday just to feel normal doesn't sound like a fun life.

I largely feel the same way. I had PCS for about 3 years where I felt 95% better. Think an injury like that becomes a part of you and you’ll never quite feel 100% same way you hurt your knee and it might be sensitive moving forward. Hit my head recently again but not in a way where I would automatically assume it was a concussion. Got hit by something which gave me a cut on my forehead but don’t know if it was a big enough impact to give me a concussion.

Now my worry and anxiety is back and is probably magnifying minor symptoms or even manifesting them in the first place. Start a new job in the next month and a half and I guess my worry is that I’m back to square one.

Think getting anxiety under control will be the biggest factor in getting me to have a quick recovery and understanding that i may always be dealing with downswings and upswings in how i feel for the rest of my life and just learn how to manage it rather than letting it incapacitate me and prevent me from living my life.

Yes, that chapter of your life was over. Then you started a new chapter by smacking your head.

I have been taking vitamins, supplements, anti-inflammatory meds and other things for most of my life. I just took 975 mgs of aspirin. I have been taking aspirin daily for almost 30 years for arthritis in my hands. If I have a headache, I might add Tylenol/acetaminophen for additional headache relief or ibuprofen.

I know a PhD (molecular biology) at the gym who knows the body's inflammatory response. He says that we mess up our bodies with diets that cause quick inflammatory responses. Treating that inflammatory response is worthwhile. He says that aspirin is a valuable part of reducing the body's inflammatory response and it even enhances immune responses.

Ok, Ill try and eat more healthy. I just hope this new hit to the head isnt the end of my life.

Anybody who claims these hits are the end of their life are selfishly ignoring those of us who have lived long and full lives with many common PCS symptoms. I have lived on the PCS roller coaster since 1965. YES, 53 years. Life goes on. We adjust and get on with our lives.

If anything will limit one's life, it is living with irrational anxiety. Being anxious about things that may happen and may or may not impact our lives is setting a path for a lousy life. Finding a way to resolve the anxiety is well worth the effort.
