Service dog for CRPS?

Has anyone here gotten a service dog for CRPS? Or trained one? I'm adopting a puppy and seriously considering training it to be a service dog in case my disease progresses. Any tips/advice from anyone who has done this would be much welcomed!

I haven't, but I knew someone who had one for EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome). The dog was particularily useful for keeping people at enough of a distance that she didn't get bumped. It was also trained to pick things up from the ground, had a carry vest to carry certain things. And provided support if she fell and needed to get back up.

I think that is a great idea. I have brain shudders from CRPS type ll and they come on at any moment. I can't walk, talk, or function. I stop breathing. I have a purebreed Chocolate Lab my daughter bought me when it was 6 weeks old to be my companion. She is 5 now and I wouldn't know what I would do without her but I truly wish we had the knowledge to had trained her because it is very scary living with these brain shudders. Good Luck:grouphug:

I think an older member had a service dog and posted about it...did you try doing a search of the forum? I think service dogs are great and I can definitely see ways that one could help me...so I say go for it if you are up to it! Really think about the ways they can help you with crowds, lifting things, opening things, balance (if that's an issue for you...it is for me), getting items for you, etc. There are lots of ways for a service dog to help with this condition.
