We Can Do So MUCH To Stay Away From Dentists

I didn't do this for most of my life and therefore many dental chairs and a lot of dental work. Now at 80 I want to preserve what is left in my mouth and to date I have not been to a dentist in about 8 yrs.

I have pretty much taken all candy out of my life. Eat some fruits and raisins but none of the deadly candy the industry tempts us with all the time.

Take Vit C (higher doses) and Grape Seed Extract (great for healthy gums).

Don't eat breads but have a bran muffin and one lasts for a couple days. And will have a small pizza when I get the urge.

Use Coconut Oil Toothpaste which I make up brush a couple times daily and floss for sure.

I hope what I'm doing continues as I don't miss going to dentists. Did my share of pain and $$$.

Discipline pays off and I am probably headed to 9 yrs of no dental issues or dental appts...still doing what I do. Just thought I'd drop by and why not work on saving oneself from harm and financial stress.

I too have a great interest in staying away from dentists. This is largely due to extraordinarily bad facial nerve pain that happened after some very questionable dental work. It’s been six plus years and I still take medication for it.

To make matters worse, I have Sjögren’s syndrome that causes dry mouth, which can lead to dental problems.

After speaking with friends and people in the profession...I’ve come to similar conclusions.

I have a friend who is sixty and she I think has had one small cavity her entire life. She feels that it is mostly because she has gotten three cleanings a year most of her life. I have another friend who is in her 80s now that went from horrible problems to very few by changing some things.

So... I made some changes and knock on wood...I too haven’t had any problems since I have...a good five years.

I too get a professional cleaning three times a year. I too avoid sweets. I use an electric toothbrush. I floss several nights a week. (I wish I could say it was every night). I never ever go to bed without carefully brushing my teeth even if I’m seriously exhausted. Now and then I use the water pick on a gentle setting. I take an array of vitamins, including extra vitamin C.

Bottom line...extra care and avoiding sugar seems to be doing the trick. No cavities...no issues at all (knock on wood) since doing this.

For me I do my own cleaning and do a good job I believe. Coconut Oil toothpaste which I've talked about has been a salvation for me. Besides refined sugars, refined carbs are low on my list of what I eat. No bread in this house. I get a special bread sandwich treat once a month or so but don't indulge in breads...very acidic.

I was born and raised on carbs and sugars and a mouth of dental work to prove it.

Thought I'd comment here since reading some issues so many have. Since I've been using Coconut Oil Toothpaste and now pretty much always using Now Foods product which I absolutely love. Made my own for some time but found the Now product and so easy and reasonable.

For a molar issue I've been watching for 10 yrs give or take, if I get flairs of some pain, I go pronto to Myrrh Tincture drops. Often end up doing this right before sleep so it works on that area during my sleep.

Still staying away from the dentists....what freedom this is.

Hi Caroline, I am interested to know what the dosage is you take of both the vitamin C and the grapeseed extract? I feel like I am in constant dental pain and have a chronic infection that no one will diagnose. It actually makes me very depressed.... I saw that you used these supplements for dentistry health so was just curious the dosages you use.

I sent you a PM, but one has to clean up their sugars/carbs. Why you have pain, I don't know. Grape Seed Ex is great for gum health. I use the Myrrh on spots when a pain comes up. Vit C I take 1000-2000mg daily most days, on Grape Seed Ex, 200mg but again I've been taking these many years......I have great gum health.
