Question, Diets

Everyone, I have a question.

Derrick has gained more weight than his doctor likes. And I can totally
get that. Well the diet his provider thinks is good, isn't working. Because
he isn't liking lots of the food. And is still wanting lots of Chocolate,
and things he shouldn't have.

He really needs caffeine because of headaches just like me. And is going
to try getting on Diet Coke, yes I know that isn't good either. But I personally don't want him on caffeine pills which was the thought he had.

He has been trying to eat mainly meats and no bread. Which he loves bread.
And he has the Popsicle. I need to let him know that fudge Popsicle should be good for him. He was so upset with himself for letting himself eat just a little ice cream not to long ago.

I don't think that was the problem. I think its the sweets. I need to find
him some substitutes he can try and enjoy. That will help.

I used to drink the chocolate drinks that help, but I'm not sure he will

Donna,

Good luck to Derrik.

Some people do well by reducing sweets or bread and other carbs.

These people sometimes benefit from eating a little more fat or protein because
those can be more satiating than carbs.

I think your best bet is to get an appointment with a dietician who will work with Derrick to develop a diet based on his likes and dislikes and may have ideas about how to work caffeine into it.

Those "no added sugar" fudge pops are awesome! And the serving size for the small ones is actually 2. When I was dieting, I found them very satisfying.

A&W diet rootbeer and cream soda are also really good. They taste exactly like the real thing, but I don't know if they have caffeine or not tho.

Good morning. I know that root beer does not have caffeine. and I don't think cream soda has it either.:)

Thanks ladies.

I didn't think about an dietitian.

I think that might be a way to go.

Our next step is to get him into an gym

It sounds like Derrick is enthusiastic about everything he takes on, so he would probably thrive at the gym :)

Yes, he will certainly thrive at the gym. The one he has picked also
has an personal trainer, and other things. Bizi, knows this
one very well I think. If I remember right she uses planet fitness.

He was working with an fitness mentor in his program last spring
and really did well. And enjoyed it. So he thinks this will be
good. So do I.

Now just to get him there to register.
