Anyone else going to Yale this month?

I'll be going to New Haven - the IND (Institute for Degenerative Disorders at Yale) August 14-15-16 for another SPECT brain scan. This will be my 3rd scan (years 2003-2005-2007).

They know how to run a clinical trial: they make and pay for my airline reservation & tickets; a limo picks me up at JFK and takes me to New Haven (paid for including tip); hotel and all meal vouchers provided; and of course the return trip is all taken care of for me.

Plus the people at the IND are SOOOO nice. I love going there - Any time!

If anyone else is going at the same time, I look forward to meeting you! :winky:

how now brown cow

Hey, Jean, just curious ... how did you get into the study?

My neuro is the head dude from the Baylor School of Medicine. Three times now they've wanted to put me in a study.

The first time I declined because I thought that we were moving overseas. The last two times, however, they've cut me from the trials because I've been on medication for over three years now.

Just wondering how you found this study!

And, Steve, I postively love your picture and caption of Saddam!!! You and I have a shared sense of humor.

Hi Jean:

I'm in that study also. Am scheduled to go in October. I agree with you about the folks who are running it. I look forward to my Barium cocktail every two years.

All the best,

Lloyd

Yale?

Hi Jean,

Too dumb. Also went to clinical trial page and I don't qualify for a single study listed.

Love,
Vicky

how I got in...

I am in this study as a legacy of the PRECEPT (CEP1347) study. In PRECEPT there was a trial within a trial to scan brains using SPECT and BETA-CIT every 2 years in order to prove this method can diagnose PD. So for PRECEPT I had 2 scans done - one in 2003 and a second in 2005.

The study folks are still following me and others to prove they can document the progression of PD using these scans. (I'm sure it has a new study name - on the informed consent document in my file drawer somewhere...)

Anyway, it's now 2007 -- 2 years after my last scan in 2005, and I expect to return in 2009 for another one. No idea when it will end (when will they apply for FDA approval?)

BUT this is the way all trials should treat their participants: make and pay in advance for all travel arrangements for the participant AND a caretaker: plane, train, hotel, meals all paid for in advance by the study. Other than my ride to and from the Phoenix airport, it's all paid for - nothing for me to take care of. (and they will reimburse my costs to and from the airport from my home)

Plus the folks at the IND treat you like royalty - they couldn't be nicer or more caring. No wonder we all like going there! I'll enjoy this trial however long it lasts! :p
