throat issues

Hi, I'm trying to figure out if this is an mg thing that others get - when laying down (particularly on your back), does your throat collapse like it does in obstructive sleep apnea, but you're awake? where the muscles and soft tissue just relax down & close off your throat & breathing?

This is one of my more troubling symptoms, but it only happens when I'm already tired and laying down. If I move to sleep in my recliner, it gets much better. I know I have sleep apnea (but haven't been able to get any treatment from doctors for it), but I can't find much information about similar things happening while awake.

Thanks!
