Spinal Hemangioma

I had an MRI for low back pain, pain on one side of my sphincter (sorry, I'm a nurse and will get graphic) and down my leg.

Findings were no nerve root or spinal compression; but...I do have two spinal hemangiomas. I had NEVER heard of this in all my 40+++ yrs. in nursing, and i have worked in Neurosurgery and seen a lot.

What I understand is that they call them "benign tumors". IMHO, any tumor in or about the spine can become serious if they are symptomatic.

The treatments I have found are: 1) surgical removal (resection) of the tumor or the affected vertebra

2) radiation therapy to treat pain

3) Ethanol injections and laminectomy may also be performed

I would hope there could be less invasive treatments first.

Unfortunately, I feel (in my spine, literally) I will be seeking treatment. I am going out of town this weekend, via car (I'm driving), and out of state (flying) next weekend. I pray I can make it through these two events. The second is to help my daughter pick out a wedding dress in Denver. I am concerned about the altitude vs my vessel tumors.

I will check in and update as soon as I have anything to share.
