Arterial Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (A-TOS)
Joining from Toronto.
I've been dealing with a heavy, easily fatigued and aching left arm for a number of years now. Also, neck pain, headaches, ear pain, dizziness. It seemed to worsen after carpal tunnel surgery where my wrist and hand had a bad infection which resolved with IV antibiotics, but I have had tingling in the hand since.. To make a long story short, I finally saw a Hand Surgeon who has done an intensive Fellowship in Hand Surgery. (Not all surgeons who do Hand Surgery have completed a 1 year Fellowship sub-specialty, many are Orthopedic or Plastic surgeons who 'do hand surgery'.) Anyway, he put my arm and head in different directions for a several physical manoeuvre tests, proceeded checked my wrist pulses and then announced that I have Arterial Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Apparently it is a rare bird of a condition. Most who have TOS have the Neurogenic or the Venous type, not the Arterial. He said I have a 'Thoracic Surgeon in [my] future'. Looking for other people who have A-TOS and are considering surgery or who have had the surgery. |
