Needing help with symtoms

Hello I am new here and hoping to get some information from others who may have experienced this.
My husband has had a lot of medical issues but most recent he just had surgery for stage 3 colon cancer. Right after his surgery he started having some left arm pain when he would extend it he would get a burning like electrical sensation down his arm into his thumb and index finger. Is has gradually gotten worse where it was numb on top of his arm and is numb around his thumb, but when it is touched it burns. The top back of his arm aches a lot and his arm and wrist are weak. He also started developing random areas on his torso of burning skin, touching it or twisting sends extreme burning.

We have been to the neurologist because my husband had an episode about 14 years ago of CIDP and was treated with ivig treatments and we thought it was coming so she did an emg and ncs and they were normal however they did a spinal tap and it is elevated at 170. She is trying to get ivig treatments authorized but insurance denied it because he didn't meet any of the criteria needed other than elevated csf for the infusion. She put him on a 7 day course of prednisone. We are so worried has anyone experienced these symptoms in the event it isn't cidp? some other type of neuropathy?

We are so worried getting in to another neurologist for a second opinion is months out. Thank you in advance

Hi worriedwife69

Welcome to Neurotalk :).

I am very sorry to read about your husband.

I know little in detail about CIDP but you can use the Search command (https://www.neurotalk.org/search.php) to find topics here where it has been discussed. When I did this there seem to be quite a few of them; I hope that they will be of help to you. Of course you can always post in those where you think that other members may be able to help you.

All the best.
