Serequel

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to stop taking serequel if your dr won’t wean you off. I no longer want to take this med. I’m so tired the next day after taking it that I can’t get anything done. It makes me more depressed to lay here not being f able to do anything. I know you’re not supposed to abruptly stop but I don’t think I have a choice. How bad are the side effects of coming off? Thanks

You need a doctor's help for this. Can you find a new doctor?

I’ve been seeing her for years and I really hate to see a new one. I’m going to ask her one more time today then I think I’m going to start taking it every other night. Thank you for your reply. [emoji3590]

hi suzie,
We are not doctors here just peers so we can't prescribe doses, diagnose here.
I am sorry your doctor is unwilling to lower your dose.
Might they reconsider if you suggested another antipsychotic? to replace it?

If you could I would get another doctor. You can look on the internet how to get off of it. It turned me in a zombie. I went off of it cold turkey. I didn't have any side effects.
Good luck

If you want to keep your same dr, i would have a serious talk about this with her..
Tell her why you want off of it and ask her to explain why she wants to keep you on it.
How long of a trial of it does dr think is needed to decide if effects are OK or not..?
Other meds that might be interacting might be worth checking into.

How long have you been on it?

I've been on Seroquel for about 10 years now. I definitely know what you mean about it making you tired. I'd recommend that you have a heart to heart talk with your doctor. Brokenfriend:hug::hug::hug:

Thank you so much everyone. I haven’t taken it in 2 days and I can not for the life of me fall asleep. I talked to her again today and she said she will lower the dosage so tomorrow I will pick up my newer dosage. I feel like I have been manic for the past two days but it feels sooooo good because I am so used to being so exhausted every single day not being able to do a thing. I’m hoping my body will adjust over time. I love the energy but I also know if I don’t get sleep I’ll become depressed again.
Thanks again everyone. I really appreciate it.

many people take a lower dose like 100-200 at night to sleep.
that did not work for me.
I take visteril and melatonin now to sleep and use ear plugs. it does take me a while to get to sleep but I think this is working out OK.
