Anyone familiar with this?

Our 37 year old son suffered a brain hemorrhage as a result of a depth electrodes study that was done to access the viability of surgery for seizure control.
Following this hemorrhage he has suffered almost daily staring spells that last anywhere from 2 hours to 8 or more hours.
His neurologist and neurosurgeon have not been able to identify a cause or a cure.
Has anyone else had any experience with this?
Once in a stare his day is lost until he falls asleep and comes out of it.

Would be interested to hear from anyone about your experiences you may have had.

These stares sound like seizures, We called them petite mal in the 60s and 70s. Now they may call them absence seizures. I had staring spells as a child that lasted a few seconds to a minute or so. Teachers thought I was daydreaming.

Has he had any during an EEG?

Staring Spells

Thank you for your response

He has had several EEGs, and had 2 staring spells while on EEG with no recorded seizure activity.

Does he have access to a clinic that understands using fMRI to track his brain function?

Databases of normal and abnormal fMRI imaging are improving.
