Noise sensitivity

I was a regular here. I have stories to share. I am discovering more about my condition (some good news) and want to find a good day to write.

But for now: Noise triggers are the worst. I am having to avoid phone calls and podcasts. I think it is called Misophonia. And I have no way to turn for this. I know what to do for the eyes, the headache, but not for noise.

Any thoughts on therapies? Any advances on that level?

Further, I have noticed (as my doctor said) that white noise in the background helps. I am trying to find earbuds that play white noise (but are not noise cancelling), such as rain/waves/..., so I can stick them in my ear when I have to make a call. I noticed that taking calls next to the ocean is much easier.

Thanks

I called it Misophonia but perhaps it is more Hyperacusis or a mix of both.

I struggle with poor voice transmission quality and foreign accents. I try to avoid them.

The muffled mumbling voices talking through face masks can be problematic.
