Oligodendrocytes are similar to Astrocytes, but they do not connect to blood vessels. They are known to be harmed by the disease processes of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Neurons need energy to survive and the energy might transfer through the Oligodendrocytes to reach other hungry neurons.

My goodness!! Information that's very new to me. The only reason I read this is because Feb. 14, 2006 I had an Oligodendroglioma removed from my left hippocampus. (May 2007 my entire left hippocampus was removed) The word Oligodendro-anything attracts my attention.
