First post ....

Hello all,
Glad there's a place like this to share - get feedback, encouragement etc...
Not sure if I have the beginning of Adult On-set Hydrocephalus....my brain is definitely tweaked out / started about 7 years ago and as of recent months progressive worse. I have all the following symptoms (except frequent urination ---have that late night but believe due to benign prostatitis) :
-------Among adults 60 years of age and older, the more common signs and symptoms of hydrocephalus are:

Loss of bladder control or a frequent urge to urinate
Memory loss
Progressive loss of other thinking or reasoning skills
Difficulty walking, often described as a shuffling gait or the feeling of the feet being stuck
Poor coordination or balance.

My INITIAL question to all of you is, have you at any point, and or chronically experience significant brain discomfort UPON WAKING up in the morning? I've been having this for about 6 weeks straight now, happens even when I successfully wear my CPAP all night (mild sleep apnea) ...
It takes me hour 2 hours with large coffee held up to mouth to even BEGIN to feel somewhat mentally focused after this (and that's with 8 hours of sleep).
I had an MRI done that shows I have medium frontal brain atrophy and just had P.E.T. scan done that show's I NOW have eye issues --which I knew...started having flashing out of left eye - been going on for 3 months sporadically and random pain behind one eye or the other...with other head / brain symptoms. Thanks. Barry

Hi, Barry, and WELCOME!

I'm a regular at the MS forum here and don't know much about hydrocephalus but from reading your post I'd say it sounds as if you have decided that this is what you might have. Or has a doctor suggested it as a possibility?

It's often unwise to try to diagnose yourself because you might have something far more benign than what you think you have--and on the other hand you might have something far worse than you've assumed.

So I hope that you're in the care of a competent doctor who can diagnose accurately and point you towards a way of getting rid of your symptoms or managing them more successfully.

To answer your question, I'm not sure what you mean by brain discomfort on waking in the morning. Many people (including me) are "foggy" after waking up, and it takes time (and caffeine) to get us up to speed. But it sounds as if you're talking about something more bothersome than that.

I also hope you have a good eye doctor to address the vision problems.

You can always come here for input from the people here or just to vent. This space and these people are here for you.:)

Thanks all for your input and kindness... I have a ophthalmologist appt. in two days - Tuesday - to at least address that secondary issue... will plan on posting results of that here. These eye symptoms are much tapered down since they initially manifested so we'll see.
