Overwhelmed!
My sweet older brother (57) arrived from TN to MI yesterday. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's 3 years ago, although he had tremors years before that and is on SS disability. S I do know that this is a progressive situation. He drove alone and arrived yesterday. He asked me to look at his back and see if there was anything externally that might explain his remark that it was painful. Something that looked like a chigger bite was visible. Today, it is apparent that the man has shingles. I know (now) that he must have an antiviral injection within 72 hours. I so wonder what to do as I am only just today learning about PD and now this unfortunate complication. Any suggestions, PLEASE???

Hi Kristie,
I just saw your post and wanted to also say "Welcome". Apart from visiting the forum that Curious posted, I just wanted to say that I know there are a few people who use these forums who have experienced Shingles, or have family members who have in the past, and hopefully they'll also be along to give some advice. All the best to you and your brother. I hope you find some answers and some relief. take care, Lara |
Hi, Kristie! Welcome to NeuroTalk!
Sorry to learn about your brother's troubles. I hope that you will find some answers soon. This is a great bunch of people and I know we will do all we can to help you.:) |
Hi Kristie,
That's a lot to deal with, for you and him. It must be a shock to both of you. ((((((((Kristie)))))))))) One thing I would mention is that vitamin B12 is very beneficial for nerves. If your brother has symptoms of low B12, I have lists of symptoms on my site, then if he begins taking it, it will help preserve his nerves, especially when it's so stressful. There's so much to know about vitamin B12... but one clue that someone is low on B12, is ridges on fingernails and lack of moon... ((((((((Kristie))))))))) |
Welcome Krisie. I'm so sorry your brother has shingles. My husband had it and was just miserable with it. You need to get him to the dr. asap. Here is the link for our shingles forum.

Hi Kristie and welcome to NeuroTalk. I'm so sorry for you and your brother. My first thought was that I hoped Ms. Alffe would happen along because of her husband's horrible bout with shingles.
I had that once and it was a string of shingles that led into my breast and it was VERY uncomfortable and painful. As Alffe said, he should see a doctor asap for that. You'll find everyone here very caring and supportive so I'm glad you found us. |
