Dry socket nightmare ... advice needed ! X
Hi everyone
I’m from Devon in the uk and going through a dental nightmare atm. On 18th jan I had an xray on a bottom back molar due to intense pain and found out it was cracked so i was injected 5 times in gum with anaesthetic and the tooth was dressed 3 days later I was in agony and I couldn’t open my jaw more than 1 cm without extreme pain. I returned to dentist Monday 25th and the tooth was extracted . 2 days later on Wednesday I was sobbing with the pain and still couldn’t open my mouth The dentist said I had dry socket and cleaned it out and packed it with a dressing 2 days later on Friday throbbing worse can’t sleep going outta my mind in pain despite taking paracetamol and ibuprofen constantly Back to dentist for 4th time now Another 5 injections clean out and socket dressed again It’s now Sunday the dressing is starting to fall out What do I do ? Can I just let this happen and try and treat it with clove oil ? I can’t face the dentist again and I still can’t move my jaw wider than 1cm ... this is really worrying me ! Will it heal quicker without the dressing ? As in does the dressing slow down the process ? I would rather have a couple days climbing up the wall with pain than waiting weeks for this to go Sorry for such a long post ... I am really desperate ! Stay safe everyone over there .. the uk is not going well with this virus 😢 Xxx Katrina |
Welcome Katrina888. :Wave-Hello: Someone will be along. A dry socket isn't fun for sure. I had one once.

Hi, I always keep Myrrh Tincture on hand for any pain in gums or mouth issues.

Hi
I'm sorry to hear the pain you are in. I have dealt with a dry socket and its no fun. I would remove the dressing. I actually removed it a few hours after having a tooth pulled. What caused my dry socket is smoking. After having a second tooth extracted I learned from the first time. I had to make sure I kept that area moist drinking fluids. I actually drank a bunch of apple juice and would let it sit on that side for 15 seconds before swallowing it. I made sure not to use aby drinking straws. I hope it gets better for you soon. Best wishes, Diamond Tiger<3 |
