New glossopharyngeal neuralgia and subsequent panic attack

My mother has new onset of GN and now is scared to eat or drink. She’s had new problems too with panic attacks, just a very rapid Mental health decline. She is in her 80s. All of us are unsure what to do. She will see a multidisciplinary specialist team in our city soon. After a bad experience with Gabapentin, she is on carbamazepine. Also she has afib and peripheral neuropathy but these are managed and she’s usually upbeat and very capable. We need some hope for the future. Please help especially if you know of support groups or threads here.
