Freaked out, right place to post?
Hey, had my TBI over 14 years....Ran away from home 11 years ago...Now I have something happening that I cant control and feel helpless!
We had a fire 10 miles away few weeks ago...Its out...But now its getting worse, I have a fire to the north and a huge fire to the south! I was never allowed to drive so I feel like a sitting duck!...All I have is me and my service dog and we are waiting for orders to evacuate! How do I evacuate when I cant drive? who do I call if it happens? I am putting things together for me and him... I am beyond worried, havent eaten and all I do is worry! I need help but dont know who to call, or what to do! For those of you who pray please do so.... I feel trapped, with no where to go. |
Hello davOD
You could try to contact your local area emergency management services to let them know you have no transportation for you and your service dog. They will usually arrange to assist in evacuating people who have no other way of leaving. I see from your profile that you are in Arizona? Scroll down to the bottom of this link and you will see each county listed Emergency Management | Department of Emergency and Military Affairs I hope and pray the fires spare your area, and that you will be safe. |
Thinking of you. Hoping you were able to contact someone and you both are in a safer area by now.

There are often plenty of people like you who cannot drive themselves out of danger.
Pack your go bag and some other things. Set some things outside your place where people can see them to know you are packed to leave. The first order to evacuate often means they want to get people out while they have plenty of time to evacuate safely. That way emergency crews do not have to fight evacuating traffic at the last minute. Pack in order of importance and mark them 1, 2, 3. 1. Most important/records/meds/contact info./basic clothes/laptop 2. Less important, clothes for an extended stay, other important things. 3. Least important, things you would miss but are not critical to live elsewhere for a week or two. Then, be ready to only take what your evacuation assistance has room for. |
