18 day period

Have any of you experienced lengthy periods due to steroids? This is the 3rd month in a row that this has happened. The first month was 14 days, last month was 10 days and this month it was 13 days, nothing for two and bleeding and clotting for the last 5 days. As there are no signs of stopping, the best thing would be to call the dr., but I just wondered if this was "normal" after so many injections.

Hi Unrouley,

Yes, I did have terrible problems with my periods when I was on steroids:(
It did resolve when the dose was reduced and I had a visit to a gynaecologist who did a procedure to the lining of my uterus---all was well after that.
Now of course I am old and don't have to worry anymore:rolleyes:
Wishing you luck, remember to keep up your iron intake as you can quickly get depleted with such bleeding.
Cheers Tayla:hug:

I would call your doc just to be sure.

In regards to my menstrual cycle I actually noticed a positive reaction in that it is much less painful. I have been plagued with extremely painful cramps for all of my life and since I have received the injections it has been much more bearable. I am assuming it is because of the anti-inflammatory properies of steriods. I did however, notice more clotting. And the first time I received the shot, I got my period for two weeks straight.

Hugs.

thanks guys. Just thought I'd mention the first time this happened 2 months ago, the dr. gave me hormones to make it stop - and it did. He did blood work and it all came back normal (and I'm not pregnant) so it must be a hormone imbalance. The problem is that I go to look it up and I see all these terrible things it COULD be and freak out - especially in the middle of the night.

I would see the doctor to follow up and rule out a secondary condition brewing, They were saying mine was from a fybroid. I have a shot of Proventile B/C I take monthly to help. When I went for the last ultra sound tech said she thought it was not fybroid, and thne they thought about the triggerpoints and steroids for asthma etc...

But Never got an answere why so long, just control them with the injection of c/c...now I am going to be 53 this year, never smoked, tubes tied...but can not stop or the bleeding restarts again for days.

I did have the D&C years ago to check lining for any issues, as it was too thin and could lead to cancer, but last ultra sound in the fall lining is fine.
I just wish I could go through change to stop the shots already....
But, I thought to mention that you may have fybroids, maybe get it checked,
Dianne
