advice to keep head upright with some range of motion

i was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis about 3 months ago. Needless to say I am totally freaking out. Not sure I can or want to live like this.
one of my biggest problems is that I cant keep my head upright without a major balancing act and help from my hands.. i originally bought a cheap cervical collar but it is too big and does not help at all. My head just learned how to bend with it on. I am wondering if any of you new friends have found a solution to keeping your head up with some range of motion.. I am new to this site, so i have no idea how to know if anyone responds to this. I shall post this and hope for the best

Welcome, Syl73!

I'm so sorry you've been diagnosed with MG but it sounds as if you've been trying to get along with it.

A doctor can advise you on the cervical collar, or did you get the collar with a doctor's rx? If so, I think you should try to get a properly fitting collar. It could make a big difference.

Thank you so much for responding to my post. No rx for the collar.. I shall work on it. There is one i want to try but it cost $130. If i knew it would work, I would gladly buy it. I think i should redo my post to specifically ask about that neck brace.

Maybe our search tool can find info on neck brace or neck weakness...

Hi, welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

Check out the Myasthenia Gravis Forum

I ran a quick search just using the word "brace" and a lot of older posts came up on the MG forum. It's a fairly quiet forum lately, but there is a lot of older information there that may be helpful. I posted one of the threads below. There were others related to the neck etc.. If you ever need any help with finding things, just post and someone will help you out.

Another thought is asking advice of a physio.

Take care there and please make sure that you talk to your doctor about this issue.
