Concussion from 5 year old?

Hello everybody

This night I woke because my 5 year old toddler knocked her head against my forehead while we were both sleeping. I think she was rolling over, but I dont know - I just know that the hit was hard enough to make me wake up, although I immediately fell asleep again.

Then I woke after two hours and felt a little nauseous and couldt sleep, and began thinking whether the hit had enough force to be a new concussion?

I feel a little dizzy now and have a headache when reading and fatigue. But is the head of a 5 year old able to cause a concussion or is it to soft? And how many g-force would the impact constitute? Concussion or subconcussive? I have no bruise or goose egg.

The reason why I ask is that I try to figure out whether I should rest for the coming days, or if it is psychosomatic and I then should keep on as usual?

All thoughts are welcome and very appreciated.

Best regards

TheNorwegian

Hi TheNorwegian

I just wanted to refer you to a thread from 2018 where someone else asked a similar question, and where in your reply you mentioned this happening to you with your daughter, but you actually gave many reassurances on why not to be concerned.

Hopefully re-reading that thread will reassure you now. Concussion while sleeping

Thanks Chemar. I cant believe I really wrote that! I had totally forgotten. I guess it is easier to be objective towards others than one self.

But the problem now is that I actually woke up because I got hit. And I dont know whether she just rolled over or was sitting up and fell down on my head. I have a lot of headache so I guess it was a new concussion - so depressing…
