C.S. Lewis Quotes

I've been re-reading some old favorite CS Lewis books and essays, and am reminded again just how inspiring, challenging and reassuring his words can be!

All are welcome to add their own favorite CS Lewis quotes here.

Quote:

“The great thing to remember is that though our feelings come and go, God's love for us does not.”
― C.S. Lewis

Not spiritual necessarily but I love

"Courage dear heart".

There's one about children and courage that I love too but can't remember that. I'll have to go find it.

I found it.

“Since it is so likely that children will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. Otherwise you are making their destiny not brighter but darker.” C.S.Lewis

“Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see.”
― C.S. Lewis

You can't go back and change the beginning,
but you can start where you are and change the ending.

Chemar, after reading your thread again the other night it got me thinking about how clever he was with his use of words and how reading them truly does conjure up visions in the imagination. Not all writers can do that. He's a true "wordsmith" I think. Of course, what I have read has not been from a personal religious perspective but am still able to understand what he's meaning.

I found this on his wiki page and it demonstates to me his skills as a writer because it all seems so familiar.

"The New House is almost a major character in my story.
I am the product of long corridors, empty sunlit rooms,
upstair indoor silences, attics explored in solitude,
distant noises of gurgling cisterns and pipes,
and the noise of wind under the tiles. Also, of endless books.
—Surprised by Joy"

Another writer who could do that for me was Carlos Zafon in The Shadow of the Wind. I can still actually see the scenes he set with his words and almost feel sensations that I remember from reading that book.

Anyway, before I rush off for treatment, I just wanted to say what I was thinking. I don't do that much anymore. We should do book club. lol
