stopping Apo Levocarb due to side effects

Has anyone else stopped taking Apo Levocarb due to get some peace from its side effects? I've only been taking Apo Levocarb for about a year now at my neurologist’s suggestion. From starting with a half pill 3x/day, I'm now up to 2 100-25 pills 4x/day. I get so fed up with my twitching left foot, rubber mouth and spreading left hand fingers that I just wake up some mornings now and decide not to take any or delay my first dose until the afternoon sometime. Obviously, the downside is I operate extremely slowly, can’t perform fine motor movements, my left foot drags as if I have a limp, left arm doesn’t swing when I walk and my balance is poor. My neurologist has had me try Mirapex and then Comtan and even Apo Levocarb CR in an effort to reduce the Apo Levocarb side effects that I experience. So far nothing has helped very much and I seem to be already getting much shorter periods of "on time" when I do take my Apo Levocarb. I'm seeing my neurologist later in August and am considering going off PD medications altogether – at least for a while. Has anyone had any success reducing or mostly eliminating side effects from Apo Levocarb?

Is that the only PD med you are taking or is it an add on med?
Did Sinemet or generic carb/Levodopa not work for you?

Sometimes it can take time to find the best meds or combo that works for you.
Hopefully your Dr considers your input on these concerns and is willing to adjust or change meds.

DropD: I don't know how much alternatives you've explored from the P.D. This is not my issue but all issues related to health interest me. There is a lot of info on this forum here on P.D. and sorry to hear of your issues with the drug.

Exploring Alternative Therapies for Parkinson’s Disease

I continue to be fascinated with Grape Seed Extract for so so many health issues and I've been taking it for decades and here is what is said about Grape Seed Ex and P.D. Now it's not the miracle but so many alternatives can help.

Apo Levocarb is the only med I'm taking. My pharmacy told me there's no more Sinemet so they give me Apo Levocarb (the generic). I see my neuro every three months which is how he prescribed Mirapex and then Comtan to try and reduce the side-effects of Apo Levocarb.

Welcome to the community DropD.

Your pharmacist sounds good to me.

I doubt that Grape Seed Extract will be of any use in the treatment of your Parkinson's Disease.

Best wishes.

One never knows. and NOT to try all that is out there for our support, has got to mean something. Some help is better than no help, I think that with all health issues people deal with.

I thought I posted this link but I don't see it here.
