2.5 lb. weight fell on head
hi everyone,
I've been reading these forums for years - SO helpful. I had a mild concussion 8 years ago (I hit the side of my head, right above my ear, on the edge of my counter while rapidly standing up from cleaning the floor - terrible place to hit where the skull is the thinnest). I have a history of significant migraines so it took me 6 mths to recover from my concussion - symptoms were severe headaches and exhaustion. I was just bending down when a 2.5 lb weight (a sodastream canister) fell on my head, about 2 ft. It fell on the top of my head. Q: How likely is this kind of incident going to lead to a concussion? Obviously, I'm super anxious about this possibility - Thank you! |
SarahBrown,
Welcome to Neuro Talk. I just answered a similar question earlier tonight. Please read that answer. If this event lead to a concussion, you would already know. A concussion is a momentary event. It does not happen after the impact. You would immediately experience the concussion. You would know your brain was traumatized. Later, more symptoms might develop. |

Do you have symptoms from the incident? It's difficult to determine whether there was an injury, so it's best to play it safe.
The symptoms could be from inflammation which can occur with or without a concussive force. So rest for a day or two to allow the inflammation to subside. |
