Beef,
It looks like there is great stuff coming out of that Roche lab at MIT. But they seem to have addressed MANY DIFFERENT disorders/conditions, across MANY DIFFERENT organ systems over the years. I couldn't find any ALS work from them prior to this most recent Nature paper. That has me wondering... were YOU involved in turning their attention to ALS? Have you discussed ALS with Dr. Roche herself? Does this group have weekly lab group meetings that you could get yourself invited to (if you aren't already attending)?
