Welcome, Dolphin62!

So sorry you've had long-term health problems. Not much fun.

As for your question about weight loss, you don't mention whether you need to lose a moderate amount of weight or a lot, but whichever it is, as a diabetic you should consult a doctor about a safe weight-loss plan.

When my (Type 2) diabetes was diagnosed, the doctor entered the room with a 1,000 calorie diet sheet tucked under his arm. He referred me to a diabetes class that met for several days in a row at a local hospital, and I had to report back to the doctor every month for glucose tests and a weigh-in. I did lose 100 lbs. and am happy to say that I've kept all of it off for most of the 40 years since then. At one point my weight went up to about 125 but that was still in the normal range.

I have felt much much better since losing the weight but have to say it wasn't easy. I hope you can have support from a good doctor as I did.
