hand grip

i am type 1 diabetic and have an appointment 2 weeks away with Doctor but have worried myself . i have been suffering with a sore shoulder that has gone away and comes back but more concerning is i lost grip in left hand yesterday and when i hold palm of my hand out my fingers are moving ever so slightly. Does anyone know if this is a sign of neuropathy or perhaps something more sinister.

Hi Paul, Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

It could even be a pinched nerve.
I had a pinched nerve in my non dominant elbow a long time ago for a very long time. My hand used to get stuck in a 'claw' grip and a couple of my fingers were affected. Cubital Tunnel mine was. I used to do a lot of special exercises I found on the TOS or RSI forums.

Hopefully your Doctor has given you better news and that you're on the road to recovery.

I only just realized you wrote this in July. I'm in Australia and we do our dates differently with d/m/y so I thought you must have written just last week and you were waiting still to see the dr.

(Belated) welcome, paulk!

I wish I could say something helpful about your hand problem. I find hand impairments to be especially difficult but the one you describe isn't among those I've had.

If it's of an help, the hand problems I've had--a finger that no longer works or is too painful to use, fingers permanently bent out of shape --have all either got better with time and patient waiting (plus the occasional splint), or there have been work-arounds.

By now you will have seen the doctor. Did the hand problem have any connection to the shoulder pain, in the doctor's opinion?
