Face feels weird
Lately my face has been doing some weird things. Hope I can explain.
Ok like if I were to take my hand and start at the to of my forward and rub down I would feel it immediately. It is like slow motion. It takes a few seconds after I rub on it before I feel it and then it is very tingly and feels something like pins and needles. Can anyone help on this? Am I totally losing it:eek: |
What you seem to be feeling--
--is called delayed summation; sensations happen not immediately after the stimulus, but some seconds later, and they build out of proportion to the actual strength of the stimulus.
That can be a symptom of a number of things--small-fiber neuropathy of the face, for example, and also of Central or Thalamic pain, in which there is damage to the spinothalmaic sensory tracts, which often happens in cases of stroke, MS, central nervous system infections, combined degeneration form B12 deficiency . . . Take a look at : www.centralpain.org |
Hi dillypooh,
(and wow, GlennTaj, you have the greatest info! Thanks!) I've had that happen periodically, but it was somewhat the worst over a decade ago before I began having B12 replacement therapy. Vitamin B12 is essential for nerve health, and somewhat hard to get enough of if we begin to run low as a result of malabsorption and/or stress. Have you been experiencing a lot of stress lately? If I were you I'd take a look at a list of symptoms of low B12, I have a couple lists on my site. If you find that you are experiencing the symptoms, then if I were you I'd get Methylcobalamin lozenges and begin dissolving them under my tongue every day. (Unless you can get a prescription for injectable B12, which for me has worked more totally and rapidly.) (((((((((dillypooh))))))))))) |
Thanks so much. I thought I was crazy.

Hi dillypooh,
I hope you are feeling better and you are crazy. I have Small Fiber Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy. It took a specialist and 2 nerve conduction test to figure out what I had. So hang in there and I hope you find the answer you are looking for. Hugs and pray for you. Tracy |
