Prayers for Those Affected by this STRANGE Weather
Floods and Tornadoes in the Midwest, Drought in the South... Fires in Idaho.
My Thoughts and Prayers go out today for those who have been touched by any of these. |
Joining my prayers to yours, Vicky, for all suffering the weather woes:grouphug:
We are having severe lightning storms here the last couple of days with 5000 strikes recorded in an hour over our area yesterday:eek: As we are still in a drought here, (yep, drought in Florida! ) the concern is that the intense lightning could spark fires and forecast is for another bumpy day today. |
Thank you for your concern. It sure has been wet and muggy. The flowers, plants and bugs seem happy - trees are a little broken up though.
We've got a young teenager in the neighborhood who likes to set off our dogs when he walks down our street. When he reaches the corner, he lets out a big chicken call. It causes Geneva to perform her signature "wooooo," and my friend's dog Lad (Pomeranian) across the street to sing back up yapping. :p We had a big storm and tornado brewing around here the other day, and the warning was specific for our area. I didn't have to worry about Geneva because she headed straight for my side on the bed and wasn't happy til I covered her with my robe (we don't have a basement or "safe" room). The sirens were blaring, and I could hear my friend calling for Lad (we both endured the '67 tornado together). She has cerebral palsy, so she can't really chase him down. I walked across the street and asked my friend if I could help round him up, but Sir Barks-A-Lot got even louder and more determined - what a cute little vicious face. I joked to her "I'm not helping here, am I?" She replied "You think a little WIND is going to keep my guard dog from his duties?" :D We laughed and I went home. Just as I started walking into my house, Lad stopped barking and trotted happily into the house. His work was finished - he destroyed me yet again. :D It's not too bad today. Sunny and not as humid - probably won't last. |

I'm not sure why you quoted me. My friend and I don't need saving. Just like with hurricanes, tornadoes don't pick and choose their victims according to the brand of religion a person follows. Like you said....it's just weather, just mother nature. :o
I wanted to help my friend because I didn't want her to have to face a tornado with half her body sticking out of her doorway. Her dog is a sweetheart too, he just likes to pretend he's vicious. I just wanted to let my friends here in the Sanctuary know we're okay over here in this neck of the woods. Oh, and a tornado never struck us - it was just a big storm. :o |
After another shower this morning, we had a day of sunshine today..yippee. On the evening weather, they said that we set a record rainfall for the month of August of 9.01". I just know that the grass has been growing like mad and by the time it's dry enough to get a mower to it, we'd be better off using the weed trimmer!!! ha ha Managed to get mine mowed Friday and helped my son get his at his house mowed tonite. Now it can rain again! ha ha
 I started getting a lot of neuralgia pain while working outdoors, guess it's either from change of weather or from the increase heartrate, not sure what causes it at times when I exert myself. |
I was just watching the news of the world from Greece. I couldn't understand anything very much for the whole hour because it was in Greek, but I could see the pictures and it's absolutely shocking. :(

I agree it's really tragic in Greece, and it wasn't even mother nature who started that fire. What the heck were those arsonists thinking? I hope they weren't developers trying to take over "unused" land - i.e., "oh well, might as well build a shopping mall here." It's not like the people in Greece have a huge land base where they can evacuate and relocate. I saw a clip of a man trying to fight the fire and protect his property with a leaky garden hose. Poor guy. :( |
I am so shocked and saddened by the situation in Greece too...it is a place and people close to my heart as I have many memories of time spent there. :(
my prayers are lifted for them. i know one of the blazes is being attributed to shepherds clearing pasture land and some of the others are arson suspected. |
They need all the help they can get... and urgently.
Shocking isn't it. How can people do that. Every summer here there are arson lit fires killing people and destroying homes and wildlife. It's just unimaginable that people would do that on purpose. The news is reporting that they've already charged 7 people with arson and a further 26 people with 'lesser offences'. Another Australian news source I just read has suggested that a possible motive was that unscrupulous property developers were hoping to move in on the areas where forest has been destroyed. |
