Texas Rangers ball player-Hank Blalock - surgery/ updates

Hank Blalock-3B- Rangers Aug. 21 - 10:47 am et

Hank Blalock's (ribs) return timetable has been pushed back, likely ruling out an August return.
Blalock was reportedly unhappy with his reworked throwing mechanics, so he's taken a step back from his throwing program. "When I come back, I really want this mechanics to kick in," Blalock said. "I want to be able to play deeper and make good, strong throws. Doing drills in Minnesota, I wasn't happy with the way I was throwing. This is something of a mechanical setback."

Hank Blalock-3B- Rangers Aug. 16 - 11:44 pm et

Hank Blalock's goal in his comeback from rib surgery is to be in the lineup on Aug. 31 against the Angels.
That seems pretty unlikely, as the Rangers would have little reason to activate him and send someone down one day before rosters expand. Still, it looks like he might contribute over the final month.

Hank Blalock (shoulder) could begin throwing from third base as soon as Tuesday.
"The last four or five days I feel like I've made a lot of progress," Blalock said. "There was about a two-week period where I was pretty frustrated. But I had to be mature and patient with it and let everything catch up."

Hank Blalock-3B- Rangers Jul. 20 - 1:36 pm et

Hank Blalock has been hitting for three weeks now, but he doesn't believe he'll return on Aug. 1 as hoped.
"There's no way I'll be back by then," Blalock said. "I tried to push as far as I can and throw comfortably during defensive drills, and I threw it half way to first base. ... I need to get [100 percent] to get a strong grip on the ball, too." Blalock had a rib removed in May to alleviate thoracic outlet syndrome. He might return in 3-4 weeks.

Poor Hank

Lordy, I got 4 days with each of mine (not counting the 10 extra days for pleural effusion).

Poor guy. If he can't get his "mechanics" back, he's in for a hard fall. Who's up for sending him a link to us? He'll need us.

Anne

10-12 weeks receovery eh? Hummmm and my insurance company tells me it is maximum 8 week recovery time!!!!

I spent two nights in the hospital (in the 'Step Down Unit')...I could not imagine being sent home the same day or even after one night...

I think he was in better shape than any of us to start with. My sister lives in Arlington and is a biggg Rangers fan so she was thrilled by his comeback, as am I.
