Alison,

Just to err on the side of caution, this should be brought to the attention on your doctor.

take care,

I can't handle Lyrica, I have breathing trouble and also it knocks me out, I can barely stay awake. Keep on top of every little thing and report to your doctor. Writing things down as they happen can help. Good luck.

I had breath problems, chest pains and mood swings with Lyrica - please go and see your doctor ASAP as it sounds like it is not agreeing with you.

Goodluck

Breathing Difficulties with Lyrica

I started taking Lyrica the end of January. Within about twenty minutes after my first dose I was having slight difficulty breathing, tightness in my chest, and, later, coughing. I continued taking it another couple days hoping the side effects would go away but they were getting worse so I discontinued it. Now, more than four months later, I am still having difficulty breathing and coughing. I am working with a pulmonolgist to find out what's going on.
If it were just an allergic reaction, the problem should have gone away soon after I discontinued the medication. Has anyone else experienced lung/breathing problems from Lyrica that continued well after you quit taking the medication?

Hi Ali,

This hits home with me. I took Lyrica awhile back. Would have to look at the bottle for the exact time but I have had breathing problems ever since. I am again dealing with it today. I never even thought about that but my Dr. monetors my heart and breathing everytime I go in. When he was out of town awhile back I had to see my PA and she said I had some tightness in my chest but they cannot pinpoint the problem. I see him Wed. and again I have to bring this up.

Be sure and get a hold of your Dr. From what others are saying, it could be the culprit.

I don't answer you post all of the time but I am always thinking of you.

Ada

I agree about calling your doc. I know I had a horrible time with breathing and an out of it feeling. My dosage was too high they felt for my body. For me it just was not a good med for me.

I was on lyrica for a nubmer of years and then went off of it last year. Shortly after that I got a cough for 4 months and shortness of breath. Now the cough has decreased but the lungs are getting worse. I have had lung tests and now going for a lung scan and ct scan to check for blood flow. After reading your article I never thought Lyrica could be a culpret. I have been diagnosed with a lung disease I think they are thinking copd but I think now it could be related to lyrica. I have crps. Thanks for bringing this to my attention to start questioning lyrica with the medical profession.
