Pain pump
Agh..
I've got an appointment in London tomorrow to discuss a pain pump - any ideas - I am trying not to get too excited about it but hopefully it would help. I will HOPEFULLY if the dr agrees be able to get either a morphine/ baclofen pump or a ketamine/ baclofen pump. Only slightly worried that the drs won't let me have one because either I'm too young for it (21) or that I have had such bad reaction to previous surgeries. Grr. So... any advice needed!! Frogga,
I don't have a pain pump. They couldn't do it because if I get an infection it would eat away at the hip replacement. But people i've talked to have one and are very happy with it. If you get one I hope it works well for you. Sue K. |
Frogga,
The end of November my pump will have been in for three years (and I would do it all over again in a heart-beat). The evaluation process to determine my candidacy was methodical and very thorough; ending in a trail after it was decided that I was a good candidate. The stated goal of the trial was to achieve a 50% pain reduction, and I loved the relief the trial provided. Your age will not matter if they determine that you qualify for the pump. If your experience is anything like mine, quality of life will be greatly improved. At the same time maintaining realistic expectations are key to this or any other treatment modality. Please feel free to PM me if you want to further discuss the pain pump option. Best regards, EJ |
